Give Your Artwork Depth with ARTMiE Butter Paste
We first got excited about textured art a year ago, when we tried it ourselves at Artmie during a workshop. We experimented with relief texture paste using a painting palette knife. The result was beautiful 3D artwork. We’ve been in love with this trend ever since.
We wanted to create pieces with an even finer, smoother texture. And so our ARTMiE Butter Paste was born!
Developing ARTMIE Butter Paste
As we developed it, we focused on making sure the paste met all the standards artists expect from quality materials.
Our goal was clear: to create a paste that not only appeals to the eye, but also stands out for its ease of use, long-lasting durability, and resistance. The paste’s texture and ability to adhere to different surfaces were key for us. We worked to find the perfect balance between easy shaping and stability, which led us to keep experimenting with different formulas and production technologies.
Perseverance paid off. ARTMIE Butter Paste is the result of a lengthy development and testing process. It’s as soft as butter, easy to shape, and has excellent adhesion, making it an ideal choice for art projects. It can help take your art to a new level.
Working with the paste:
Working with ARTMIE Butter paste is a pleasure. Its smooth consistency makes it easy to apply to canvas, wood, ceramic, glass, and other materials. Whether you decide to create a 3D relief on canvas or use it for other art projects, ARTMIE Butter paste gives you freedom and inspiration.
The flexible modeling paste spreads easily without looking lumpy. The paste is white and can be mixed with acrylic paint if you want to add a touch of color. You can skip the final coat of varnish because the paste is durable enough not to need it.
Tips for creative uses of textured paste!
1. If you’re wondering which surface to use, we recommend an artist canvas or plywood. Canvas is easier to hang on the wall. If you decide to add a frame, you can nail it directly to the sides of the canvas, making the framing process easier.
2. Try experimenting with palette knives. See what kind of marks each palette knife makes. Sketch out the patterns you plan to paint so you have a clearer idea of how you want to create your artwork.
3. The same rule applies here: sometimes less is more! When applying textured paste to a palette knife, I recommend using a smaller amount. This lets the shape of the palette knife stand out!
4. Try turning your canvas to give your hand more room to move freely. You’ll see how much more natural it feels to work this way.
5. When lifting your palette knife, try flicking your wrist to create a more interesting texture. This will add more flair to every leaf or petal in your artwork.
