The temperature and humidity indoors are constantly changing, and paper in a frame responds to these changes too. When the paper touches the glass in the frame, these areas react to humidity sooner than the center of the paper, which eventually causes it to wrinkle.

So How Can You Prevent Wrinkling?

Since the backing and paper expand and contract at different rates, it really helps not to glue the paper to the backing all the way around its edges.
Another great solution is to use a mat (passe-partout) and attach your artwork to it with tape. If you separate the space between the mat (passe-partout) and the glass with a spacer, there will be enough room for air to circulate and humidity to equalize.
